Women of Intention...Did you know that Sky Woman created the Americas? Did you know that the women of the Eastern Woodlands were powerful clan mothers? Did you know that the second oldest continuously running government in the world was led by women?

Join us as Dr. Stephanie Sellers passionately shares her knowlege about the ancient cultures of the Native American nations east of the Mississippi River and how women played a central role. Their primary creator is Sky Woman, and she created a gender balanced society that was free of violence and respected the earth. Women in the Iroquois nation appointed the male chiefs, held peace councils and were military leaders as well.

Stephanie Sellers is a writer and teacher of Native American Studies specializing in women of the Eastern Woodlands. She has written two books; her most recent is Native American Women's Studies: A Primer. She studied with Paula Gunn Allen for her doctoral degree, and has been active in her native community since she was a young adult. She is the Native Americanist at Gettysburg College and teaches in several departments.

The dinner menu will be an Indian buffet at Passage to India. The buffet includes a salad bar, chicken and vegetarian dishes, naan (which is Indian bread) dessert and beverage. If notified in advance, we can substitute an American dish for those requesting it.

Although the content will be ever changing, the camaraderie and sisterhood you will experience will be a constant joy.
